Charles Rice and Alina McConnochie’s exhibition ‘Interior Urbanism / Portman Space’ opens at DAB LAB on Wednesday 8 September.The show explores the work of architect and developer John Portman, in particular his reinvention of the atrium hotel as a remedy for the failing downtowns of American cities. Presenting three of Portman’s interior urban projects through photographic and drawn documentation, the exhibition conveys the spectacular and banal aspects of these vast interiors, as well as the formal and geometrical order, which underpins their existence as worlds unto themselves.
