From 2-12 October, Prof. Dr. Philippe Block (Block Research Group, ETH Zurich) brought his ongoing research interests in masonry vaulting to UTS, collaborating with Melonie Bayl-Smith and Dave Pigram on an intensive M.Arch. design-build masterclass studio. Utilising innovative software, traditional Catalan vault building techniques and resourceful material approaches, the studio resulted in a unique ribbed vault brought about by digital structural form finding investigations.
