Australian filmmaker’s documentary screening in competition at the inaugural Arquitectura Film Festival in Santiago, Chile
Filmmaker Nora Niasari will be attending the 2012 Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago (AFFS), with her award-winning documentary “Beirut, Under the Bridge” which is screening in the competition session on Saturday 20 October at 3:30pm at Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral GAM.
“Beirut, Under the Bridge” is a short evocative documentary about the effects of the 1975 Lebanese Civil war on public transport in Beirut as told through the stories of local transport workers. The documentary received awards for “Best Director – Documentary” and “Special Jury Prize – Documentary” at the Beirut International Film Festival 2011.
Nora is in Chile to continue shooting her current documentary, “Talca Interrupted”, a one-hour documentary about the recovery of a family who lost their home in the 27 February 2010 earthquake. Nearly two years in the making, shooting will continue throughout November and December with her team in Talca. The film is due for completion in early 2013.
