Sydney Students Speak is your chance to get involved with the 18th Biennale of Sydney: all our relations by giving a 20 minute public talk on an artwork of your choice in the exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Who better to speak about contemporary art than the next generation of artists, art historians and critics?
The series of talks will take place on Wednesday nights from 1 Aug to 12 Sept, as part of Art After Hours. The program is limited to 7 students and is open to those studying art, art history or a related discipline in a senior year (2nd, 3rd, Honours, Masters, or PhD) at a NSW tertiary institution. You will need to be available Wednesday evenings from 1 Aug to 12 Sept, 5.30–6.30pm and Saturday 21 July from 11am–4pm for a preparatory workshop.
Participants will be given an introduction to the Biennale and a workshop on gallery speaking by one of the Gallery’s public programs professionals. Auditions take place at 6pm on Wednesday 11 July at the AGNSW and speakers will be selected by 31 July.
This is a chance to get some hands-on experience in one of Australia’s major galleries, to participate in the official Biennale program and add an interesting line to your CV!
