Practice Throw
drawing over and out of performance
Tina Salama, 2012
Practice Throw evolved from a studio experiment, which sought the ‘best’ way to throw a piece of fabric. Undertaking this performative experiment, some questions arose: how could the action of throwing fabric generate a sort of hybrid-body? How could the fabric be manipulated to generate a line and shadow drawing? Practice Throw is a series of works exploring these questions not only through filmed documentation but also through the reworking of film stilll through various methods.
