Future Framing; Developing Sydney’s Creative Crescent

Hear how the Powerhouse Museum and its neighbourhood are being transformed. Anthony Burke, Associate Professor and Head of the School of Architecture at UTS and Director of the design practice Offshore Studio, will talk about the changing face of the Ultimo / Broadway precinct – what some have referred to as Sydney’s creative crescent as the UTS Master plan, Powerhouse Museum building works, Frasers Carlton Brewery site and UPN development start to take shape.

In framing the future of the area, Burke looks at the potentials for shaping the city more broadly, as well as examining several of the key projects that will be completed in the next few years.

A graduate of the Advanced Architecture Design Masters at Columbia University and the University of New South Wales, Anthony Burke specialises in issues of contemporary architectural design and theory and its role in shaping our built environment. Anthony was recently selected as one of the Creative Directors for Australia Pavilion at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale, and is a spokesperson for the 2011 Sydney Architecture Festival.
